PA Rating
The PA system (PA+, PA++, PA+++, PA++++) is a Japanese-origin label that indicates UVA protection strength based on the PPD test.
PA Rating explained
PA+ ≈ PPD 2–4; PA++++ ≈ PPD 16+. It's roughly equivalent to the EU's UVA seal but is more granular. Look for PA+++ or higher in any sunscreen used outdoors for more than incidental exposure.
